10 Answers Hi all,
I have a 6 year old Trane XR80 furnace that will not stay lit. It will light for about 2-3 minutes than will go out. It will stay out until the system is turned off for a significant amount of time. The filters are new and I have cleaned the burner parts. What other things can I check? Thanks for your time.

The flame sensor is probably dirty and needs to be cleaned. If you do not know what this part is it might be better to call for professional service.
Ir is a thin rod type item and needs to be cleaned with sandpaper or steel wool. Be careful the insulator can break. Then you can buy a new one. | | |  | Junior Member | |

| | | I just wanted to say thank you as well to hvac1000. It was freezing this morning when I woke up after some research I found this site and realized the flame sensor was probably the culprit. I just cleaned it with some sandpaper and everything is working well again! Thanks so much! I was dreading calling a service tech and dropping who knows how much money. I replaced the furnace filter, put the door back on etc and the furnace didn't kick in once I turned up the heat. The furnace worked just fine before? Is there a manual restart somewhere? I followed the directions turing the gas off and the furnace off and then back on etc, but that didn;t work....

The Gas furnace is running however there is no heat coming out from the furnace directly and the blower is not coming on. The heat is set to 68 however it is 64. There is no blockage in the vents.
