    Trane Heatpump AC Thermostat Wiring
    Hello

I'm trying to connect a Trane Weathetron Heat Pump (Model TWX724A100A1)
To a Honeywell RTH 7400D Programmable Thermostat.

This is a new installation, so there is no previous installation to observe the wiring from.

Currently, the wires that we have from the outside unit are as follows:

    White
    Yellow
    Orange
    Blue
    Red
    Green

Connected to the thermostat as follows:

    White - Aux
    Yellow - Y
Orange - O/B (supposedly the changeover from heat/cool)
    Blue - C
    Red -R
    Green - G

**There is also a jumper from R to RC

The thermostat is programmed with 170 as 7, and 190 as 0.

Upon turning on the system for heat, it operates properly. Change it to cool, and it begins to switch repeatedly (you can hear it at the outside unit), from hot to cool, until you shut the unit off from the thermostat.

Any indication on what could be the issue? Is the wiring correct? Thank you

Make sure you have the thermostat set up to energise the reversing valve in the cooling mode.

Your system style/design determines the type of thermostat you will use. Heat pump/electric heat/gas heat/oil heat/ with or without A/C. They all make a difference as to which is the proper one to use.

The old model number you posted is for a heat pump system so you will need at least a 2 stage heat model.
