My Trane Auxiliary heat on heat pump is tripping breakers. I think all 3 elements r g
All 3 white control wires on 3 contactors to elements gets energized at the same time even when only calling for 2-3 degrees increase. Is that normal? I thought it was setup to increase elements based upon the amount of heat called for? The point is breakers keep tripping in winter for the last 2 years on and off. A 60 amp breaker on the unit tripping and is fryed, craked, and needs replacing. Also 100 amp main breaker on right side of main panel trips. Heating coils look good to eye and are not grounding out. I remove the bad breaker and one large coil from power until I can get a new one. The unit runs now but not sure if aux heat is engaging in proper sequence as it should and why breaker is tripping? Thank you.

Hi, I was wondering if the Trane XL20i heat pump requires the use of Trane's 900 series thermostat or if a Honeywell VisionPro IAQ thermostat can be used.

Called tech found unit pressure switch tripped, reset added freon. Lasted less than a week. Appears tripped again. He mentioned fan could be the culprit when he was out. Is there a way to eliminate this as a cause? Any other possible solutions? Brand new filter in unit after first episode.
I have been working on a Trane Heat Pump and the problem I'm having is the thermostat won't engage the compressor for heat, but it does on cooling mode, and in fan only mode. I jumped the thermostat at RH and G and the unit kicked on. I have replaced the thermostat and still it does the same...
Why is my thermostat saying the Emergency Heat is on rather than the auxiliary heat and what do I do to correct the problem?:confused:
