    Thermostat compatibility with heat pump
    I have a Goodman heat pump--CPLE24-1-- 2 ton -and need to replace the thermostat-what do I need to know when purchasing a new one?

    Buy a thermostat that is make to operate a heat pump, and follow the instructions exactly. Make sure as you take the wires off the old thermostat you make a not as to what color of wire was on each screw. Each screw is marked with an initial. Like R<W<Y<B<O<G>. Most go back the same as you took them off but I have run into problems.

Wire colors for heat pump thermostat [ 1 Answers ]
