    When a thermostat is next to the fireplace can the heat start
    A 2 family house when has only one thermostat and the thermostat is located to the downstairs apartment NEXT to the fireplace when the fireplace is light up does the upstairs apartment can have heat?

    You can't have the thermostat for your furnace next to a heat source. It will only register the heat from the fireplace.
