    Trane XR 15 Heat Pump
Can anyone tell me about the quality and reliability of a Trane XR 15 Heat pump? I am considering installing one for $5100 in order to get the $1500 tax credit.

Is that quote for a complete system, or outdoor unit only? Trane has made some good strides in their outdoor unit products. I like the serviceability of their newer cabinet designs, and placement of the reversing valve on heat pumps is great. A pretty solid choice.

We have a Trane system, a bit over 10 years old. Bought home last year. Has older thermostat. Running heat now as it's winter here, but noticed that sometimes, the system begins to start, then immediately stops. After checking things, it appears this happens even when the thermostat is off. ...
