Do you hear a hum coming from the outdoor unit like the compressor is on? Or is it just the fan running?

OK, feel the big copper line out at the ac unit and see if it is cold. The little line should be warm. The air coming out of the top should be warm.

Both copper lines feel the same. Maybe a little cooler than the air outside. Still pretty warm out.

If it is blowing cold air out of the top the you are either low on freon or out of frean

If you look at the copper lines instide at the furnace you may see some ice starting to build. How long have you had the ac running?

That probably has to be done by a pro... do u know how much that would run. and is there any way that it might be low just because of age or does that usually mean bigger problems?

It is above the blower if you have a furnace. It would be below it if it was just a airhandler.

How old is your unit? After so many yrs they can develop small pin whole leaks. If it is not clear empty then it is not too much of a problem. Add a little and your good. If it is completely empty then you have to find the leak and see if it can be fixed.

Yes a furnace. So above. Does it cost a lot to get recharged? Could iced coils be the cause?

Good question... I'm not sure when the unit was put in but the house is only eight years old. Where would I get the freon and how would I refill it? Also is there a way to tell how empty the system is?

If your air filter gets dirty it restricts the airflow and causes your coil to ice one it starts it only gets worse. And you will just get hot air then as the ice builds no air at all

Around here we charge $75 for a service call and $14 per pound of freon. What state you in?

My air conditioner is blowing warm air out, I called a local heat and air repair and they changed out the condenser. That did not work. I was told that I would need to get a new condenser fan motor, because it was "locked up". My question is, if the condenser fan motor is locked up would it even...
