Air conditioner keeps blowing fuse in circuit board
Hello,
I Am Having A Problem With My Carrier Weathermaker 8000 Air Conditioning. It Keeps Blowing The Fuse In The Circuit Board Inside The Furnace Unit. Yesterday I Checked The Wiring Inside The Thermostat Tightened A Couple Of Wires And The Unit Started ( Yea) But It Ran Continuously For Almost 7 Hrs Then Shut Off... Tried To Get It To Start Again But Again The Fuse Just Blows As Soon As You Hit The On Switch
Getting Frazzled As Well As Cooked... it Is Very Hot Here Right Now
Anybody Got Any Idea As To What The Problem Might Be?
Thanks,
Donna

The probable causes are a short in the thermostat wiring , many times dogs will chew on it and short it out, or the coil on the contactor may burn out and pop the fuse ,To determine this you can disconnect the thermostat wires to the out side unit and turn the thermostat on if it does not blow the fuse then look in that direction, disconnect the stat wires from the contactor and try it . If it is an intermittent problem then most likely it is a short in the control wiring.

roof roof.. LOL/ honestly, I would check the fan relay if its what I think its possible your short could be confirmed as not being the wire, then jumped out and run off your emergency switch until a new low voltage board came in. sometimes you have to be there!
