I just closed on my house - made one payment and the outside heat pump is not working!!!
About 3-4 weeks ago the fan on the outdside unit just sounded a little rough, almost a slight grind/knocking noise- altho nothing major or too out of the ordinary for a fan motor ,just a little bit different from the way it sounded before.
Just a few days later the outside unit fan motor was not kicking on the house was not cooling. Everything else appears to be working just fine. Of course I have the unit completely off until I can get it going properly. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Its a RUUD Heat Pump outdoor unit MODEL SERIES (-) PKA, PLA, PMB, PMC, PNJ PPA I like in South Carolina... AC is a MUST!! THanks so much

Probably the motor is shot. Have it checked and if defective replace.
