RTH230B doesn't turn the furnace on
I have a Honeywell RTH230B thermastat and it's starting to get a little chilly here. My 84 year old Mother would really appreciate some heat however I can't make the thermastat come on. I thought the pilot light was out so we called the gas company; when he came out he told me to replace the batteries in the thermostat. When I replaced the batteries (while the gas man was here) presto... the thermostat worked and my Mom got to enjoy heat for that day however nothing since then. Can someone please give a confused person some help on how to get some heat!? :(

If you need emergency heat, then you will need to open the stat, and connect the wires that are on R and W terminals of the stat.

If you need to do this, remove the wires from the stat, and connect the wires

Be advised that the heat will run "wild", as there is now nothing controlling the heat.

You will need to separate the wires to shut the heat off.

This will give you some time to check the thermostat, the problem may be with the program or time settings causing the stat not to start the heat.
