    Residential Split System
I am looking at buying a house that was built in 1999. The home has two stories with a total of 4 rooms upstairs. The house has one split system, a 10-seer rudd condensing unit and furnace, with two thermostats. One t-stat is upstairs and the other is downstairs. Both t-stats are analog style. How does this setup work? Are the t-stats averaging the temps, is one overridding the other during summer and/or winter? The electricity is turned off in the house due to it being in forecloseure so I can't tell what is going on. Any advise will help. I don't want to move in and have the system running all the time trying to satisfy a hot upstairs and a cool downstairs.
