Propane Gas Log Fireplace Insert Flame Goes Out

Asked Oct 22, 2008, 10:29 AM — 2 Answers
While my Propane Gas Log Fireplace Insert is on for about 30 minutes it all of a sudden makes a pop sound and goes out, both the piot and fireplace flame go out together. Can some one advise me what I need to do? It seems like maybe some adjustment is needed or maybe the oriface needs to be cleaned.

The vent may be obstructed, leading to downdrafts which won't allow the flame to stay lit, or it might have a thermostat that shuts it off if a hi temp is reached. You could try cleaning out each of the little gas jets with a paperclip or wire when it's off, there could be cobwebs or dirt blocking them. Otherwise call a HVAC tech. I would not monkey around with it

Sounds like the pop you hear is the valve shutting off by high temp switch. These are ussualy located @ or around the flue collar. They come either manually reset or automatic. Normal Closed sytem opens when high temp is reached. Possibly cause obstruction, or faulty switch
