how do i light my pilot light on my gas heat at my home?

You dont do it yourself for several combustible reasons. You have a professional come in and do it for you.

Turn your gas valve knob to pilot push down and hold while lighting the pilot with a match keep holding down on the valve knob for about a minute after the pilot is lit. after that let off the knob and turn gas valve to on position.
