Outside unit is making loud noise
My outside unit is making loud noise and the ac is blowing cold air inside. The outside fan is working and compressor is working and the inside unit is blowing. Sound like the noise is coming from the contactor. How can you tell if the contactor is bad? Please help me out with this matter.

Is it a loud noise? Is the noise only when its on? Is it a heat pump or gas heat? All the info you can give will help.

If it sounds like it's coming from the fan motor, you may have a bad condenser motor or a blade out of balance. Can you describe the noise?

Give it a good tap after you turn the power off it may stop, if not you can get a new one or not worry about it. A noisy contactor will not hurt anything
