Outside condensor (heatpump) not working in cooling mode

My Goodman heatpump consonsor will not start in cooling mode. I have 240 volt and 24 volt at the condensor, but the unit still won't turn on when I call for cooling. The unit has a defrost circuit board. Need help. Thanx

If you push the compressor contactor in manually will the unit start? If yes trace the low voltage in the outside condenser to find the defective part.

Another test can be to try to run the unit in heat pump mode. If it comes on it could be a problem with the reversing valve coil . Caution!!! Only run the unit in the heat pump mode to see if it works. Heat pumps in the heat mode do not like to run in hot weather and the unit can be damaged by allowing the unit to run in hot weather.

some units have a manual reset high pressure switch , normally a red button, reset by pushing, causes for popping this button are dirty condenser coil (wash) , bad condenser fan motor (replace) Overcharge of refrigerant (call A/C service tech )
