the right thermostat

Planning on installing thermostat RTH3100. I have emergency heat switch with reg. heat and cool. will this unit work? my old unit has G, R, B, Y, O, Blk. and W wiring. also what is the meaning of back-up heat, axurillary heat, and2 stage heat?
