    How can I make Furnace fan automatically turn off when heater turns off?
    I have a Thermo Pride OH5-85. There are two manual switches installed next to the unit. One turns on the heater one the fan.
    I'm unable to find out how to have the heater and fan respond to my thermostat. :confused:

    Currently if the manual fan switch is on and the manual heater switch is on the thermostat kicks in the heater when needed and the fan runs continuously (even when the heater isn't heating). If the manual fan switch is off and the manual heater switch is on the thermostat kicks in the heater when needed but the fan doesn't kick in with the heater. I'm assuming that is a problem? :confused:

    Does that mean I need to have the fan run all day so my thermostat can regulate the heat in the house when I'm not at home or at night? Shouldn't the thermostat activate the heater and the fan? :confused:

    The wires to my Thermostat (model ritetemp 8085C), which is digital, are W and R. There doesn't seem to be a G wire for the fan. Does that mean my furnace doesn't support fan control through the thermostat or is it just not installed that way?

    I suspect it is an installation problem. Most furnaces are set up so a limit switch starts the fan after the heat is on long enough to warm up the air, and then keeps it on until the furnace cools off. Could be the limit switch is bad. There should be a second limit switch that shuts the heat off it it gets too hot. Poke around and see what you can find. Do you have a schematic or installation manual? If not, try their website. Post back.

    You were right; it took about 5 minutes for the heater to run without the fan until the limit switch activated the fan. I guess all is well then. Thanks a lot for your expertise.. :)
