Heating an apartment remodel in my house,

Hello, I have a 2 story house, I live on the second floor, The fist floor (ground level) is a family room, bathroom, and storage room, and 2 car garage. I am renovating 1000 SQ. feet of the downstair into a 1 dedroom Apt. with a 600 SQ F. open living/dining/kitchen. I'm having problem to find a great and economic way to heat-it..........
I'm located in San Francisco so we have cool to cold winter,
With the cost of energy I need help to find a way to do this project.
Thank you so much,
Eric

this is something you need to do locally,,,,call in several heating and cooling companies,,maybe ask them for advice on whats best for your situation,,decide what you want and get several differant estimates,,,comparing cost and equipment,,make sure they are reputable, have have good referances on the quality of installation work they do,,most all equipment is about the same but, sloppy installation can make the best of equipment not worth a hill of beans
