Heat pump thermostat installation

I installed a new thermostat however, I have the "X" wire floating(Two-stage heat pump) inside the thermostat. There is no direction where this should anchor (the remainling sites are "C", "B", "W").

Can anyone provide direction on this? I know I may need a higher level model but the information seems to be the same no matter which thremostat I look at. I don't want to purchase another item I would not need.

Thank you
