    Heat pump constantly running
I have a goodman heat pump (3 years old). The thermostat is set at 72 and it is 43 degrees outside. I realized it was chilly in the house, I then reset the thermostat to 74. The heat pump came on and it is two hours later, the house is resting at 74 but the heat pump is still on and it is blowing out cool air. I lowered the thermostat to 73 and the unit cut off, only to come back on 5 minutes later and is still running. The unit was serviced (low freon) and cleaned 7 weeks prior, all the filters have been changed. At this point the unit is running up my electric bill and not keeping us warm. What's wrong with this unit?

If it has a refrigerant leak and the freon as you call it was low unless they found and fixed the leak the freon as you call it could be low again.

At 43 degrees your heat pump should be making a good amount of BTU's but depending upon the size of the home, the size of the heatpump, and how the home is constructed it might be having a hard time keeping up in its present condition.

I hate to say this but there are really no used serviceable components in the outside unit so it looks like you may have to call the service company back to recheck the problem. Many times a company will give a discount since they were there just a short time ago. Have them find the leak if the unit is short of refrigerant again.

Sorry but I have no magic wand for this problem.
