Goodman furnace won't ignite, burning steady is the little red light.
    Hi,

I have a Goodman GMT gas furnace. It is only 4 years old. Two days ago it stopped working. When I checked it out, it seems that the furnace is getting the signal from the thermostat fine, however, the power venter fires up and then right after the gas valve opens, there's a click (which I am assuming is when the igniter should fire, and doesn't) then it shuts down.

Does this sound like a bad igniter to anyone? If the gas doesn't ignite, the blower motor doesn't go on, right?

Yes, the fuse is fine, and all of the wiring appears to be in good condition as well as tucked out of the way. The little red light doesn't flash, blink, or faulter. So the heater itself won't tell me what's wrong. I am hoping someone here can.

    Thanks,

    Jane

A failed ignitor is a good possibility, but only one of many. Odd that the LED isn't flashing at any point. Try running unit again, and check the LED after the start-up trial is finished.

I had this happen the sound I heard was the gas valve closing the igniter would attempt to glow 30 seconds before the valve opened, it glowed but never got hot enough, I took it out and I found a hairline crack in it, I bought another for about 10 bucks worked fine. It was hard to tell it was cracked just by looking at it, had to remove and run fingernail over it to find crack as surface is really rough
