Fan runs forever when in heat mode but not in ac mode

Great web site and concept!!! I have a York forced air gas furnace that has a Honeywell Fan Limit switch. The unit works great in the summer. The ac and the fan shut off correctly. However, in the winter the heat will reach its temp setting and turn off but the blower continues forever. I have learned from trial and error that if I wait a few minutes to let the unit cool down, then I can lightly touch the Honeywell fan limit switch dial and the fan will cut off. If I do not do this, then the fan runs forever. It is really odd. Hope someone has some ideas. I am about to put my house on the market to sell and I would like to get this fixed so it won't be an issue for prospective buyers or inspectors. Thanks, Terry

It sounds to me you found your problem with out any help. If the switch is sticking all the time you need to go ahead and replace it. One thing you might try is adjusting the blower off setting on the control to a higher temp to see if it will kick off then. Good luck.

Thanks T-Top. I adjusted the OFF setting a few degrees higher and now it seems to be working. I did not have time to test several times to make sure it is working consistently, but I will tonight. Thank you very much for your help and especially your quick response. This is a great concept. Hope I can help someone at some point.
