This, like your other post, is more like "lingo" than terms professionals generally use.

I think that the term probably refers to a "flashback" or "pop" or "poof" that sometimes happens when you turn a burner off.

Where are you hearing or reading about these terms?

It is when the flame goes back into the burner when the gas valve closes. It is more prominent in LP furnaces and specific burner designs
