blower fan does not work

Hello:

I got a Carrier AC unit in my residence since 3 years ans has been working fine until today: the fan at the outside unit does not move at all. I check the fuses at the circuit box next to the unit and found nothing wrong. Whenever the AC kicks in I hear a click and hum at the unit but the fan does not move and become hot. Is the motor broke or any other reason? Any help to let me figure out what is wrong before I call for the repair will be appreciated.

Thanks.

The problem can be a bad or dirty contact in the magnetic contactor "fan relay". but most likely is a problem with the motor. Either the motor itself, or the starting capacitor, which is in or on the motor.

Of course, assuming the fan belt is not broken. This is easy to check and repair yourself.

The motor may need to have a repairman visit.
