    Clicking heat vents
We have a new house and the heat has just started to come on during the night. The
Air vent in our room makes a loud clicking noise as it heats up and cools down. Is there
A way to STOP the clicking before we go insane? Thanks!

In a new house you always have the option of bugging the builder.

Or you could try working some graphite or even talcum powder between the metal vent and where it comes through the floor. It expands and contract with heat. Each tick is a small jump. Some lube, and it moves smoothly and quietly. Even wiggling it around may loosen it enough to move smoothly.

Musky odor coming from heat vents [ 1 Answers ]

We installed a humidifier to our furnace in February. Could it be causing the musky odor that we periodically get from the vents? What is funny about it is that the smell is not there 24/7 and when it is present it comes more from one or two vents only. If that makes any sense.

Clicking Valve [ 6 Answers ]

I didn't drive my car for 3 or more weeks. When I started it, I heard a valve clicking and immediately turned it off. A car mechanic advised me to add about one-half quart of marvel mystery oil and run the car five minutes. I did and, unfortunately, the clicking continued. What now? Should I...
