    Carrier vs Bryant
I have two quotes from two reputable installers. One quotes Bryant and the other Carrier. Both units are the second from the top level of the lines for scroll compressors and Puron. (Bryand Model 165a 5 ton versus Carrier Performance Series 5 Ton) The Bryant is being quoted a bit cheaper than the Carrier.

Is there any difference in the two brands? I am being told by the Bryant person that they are the same unit in reality.

They are made by the same company, BDP, no real difference, many models I have to look at the front door to tell the difference.

Over the years there have been some noticeable differences in their looks but the working parts are the same. You would buy any replacement parts from the same distributor or dealer. Both are very good units. Check both bids for warranties. Make sure you are getting bids on the same amount of work.
