    a/c not cooling
Hi, I've got a problem with my central a/c not cooling. Both my outside unit and my blower in the attic are running, but I'm not getting cool air.Any ideas? Thanks.

Have you looked at the filter? If its not been changed and is quite dirty the reduced air flow can cause ice buildup in the unit past the drum and you'll get no cold air.

I know you said everything is running, but are you getting no air or are you getting air, just not cold?

The two most common causes we run into on our apartments:

Blowing cold but very weak: either clogged filter, as kp suggests, or a clogged coil. Cleaning the coil is no easy task.

Blowing hard enough but not cold at all: out of freon. In that case, a licenced HVAC guy to check that out.

    Hi,
I agree with the answer before mine; possibly out of Freon, in which case, you will have to call a reputable Air Conditioning/Heat Pump repair person in your area. Here in my area, they charge $70 just for the trip, then add on costs of the Freon.
Hopefully, it's not the compressor, but that can be check out also.

We have a Carrier AC unit that is about 9 years old. If the unit has been off for a while and we turn it on it runs fine-both the fan and the outside unit. It cools the house and everything seems fine. Then at some point the outside unit stops while the fan inside is still blowing. I'll turn it...
