Bryant Furnace won't start flame on my emergency generator
My newer Bryant plus 80 T gas furnace would not start the flame when it was connected to my emergency generator during an ice storm that caused the commercial power to go out. Is this a result of the poor power quality of the emergency generator which messed up the electronic circuits of the furnace and if wo is there an easy fix?

Check for proper polarity from the generator.

This really concerns me. I have about a 10 year old Brayant 80+ furnace and a Coleman generator. I have spent a ton of time lately looking into an affordable, legal way to connect the generator into my house, https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/electr...ch-38571.html?

If you have a code compliant system to connect the generator to the house wiring, I would be interested in the details.

If you don't, your problem could be a lack of a 4 wire connection, 2 hots, a neutral, and a ground. Well, the furnace should only need one hot.

Generac makes an automatic transfer switch one that is outdoor rated and one that is indoor rated with all the different circuit breakers built right in. It wouldn't take too much rewiring to make it work with most any generator. They are a little costly though.

Can someone explain how the igniter works? Ie, is it a hot surface igniter or a spark?
