Blower fan runs and stops runs and stops

I have a heil system and when it is on Heat or Cool the blower runs for about a min and then stops for a min. And continues running like that. The main system that is outside (condenser i quess its called?) keeps running. It is just the blower in the furnace in the garage. I had a company look at it and with out even touching anything and just turning the system on said that the motor is bad. Could it be something else. The motor does run just intermittingly i find it hard to believe the motor itself is bad. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could try to replace the capacitor for the blower motor.

the repair guy is coming back out because he just told my wife the motor was blown and left. Im here now and will check the cap. Am i right in assuming that if the motor actually runs then it is not blown. Im not a repair man but if the fan is turning on fine that means its not blown and should be somthing electrical actually telling the motor to turn off.

Many possibilities present themselves. If the motor turns freely but will not stay running you can attach a volt meter to the leeds of the motor and monitor the voltage. If it shows no voltage when the motor stops the problem is somewhere else. Possibly a control for the blower motor OR in extreme cases a digital thermostat can cause this to happen.
