Sir/Ma'am,

My townhouse uses a Bryant central a/c/gas furnace. The outdoor evaporator fan and compressor work. The indoor blower fan when set to on will begin with a hum -- much like a stuck motor might sound, then time out and shut off. This started with my wife's attempt to start the machine a few weeks ago. The day after I returned, the fan started, but after shutting off while in the auto position, it did not re-engage.

I am looking at spaying the control panel in the front with CO2 compressed air to clean; some dust buildup. Beyond this, what else could be the solution. The model number is CD5AXA0420Z1AAAA. It is about 6 years old. I did notice the coolant line begin to have frost; presumably without the blower not operating.

I appreciate any support to troubleshoot. While the 130 degrees in Baghdad was doable (only a dry heat), the heat and humidity in VA is just a bit much for the family here -- still trying to readjust myself. Thanks.

Sounds like blower motor, maybe a capacitor, Check with breaker off, spins freely?

I agree with Stratmando, make sure all power is off to the furnace before you enter the blower compartment.

Thanks for the reply. What would the capacitor look like? I'm familiar with the cylinder type from Radio Shack.

It should be where wires go into Compressor Unit. Next to contactor, they have the shape
Of an oval racetrack, sometime 2 capacitors built into one(has 3 terminals, 1 common),
Usually aluminum case.
