Air Conditioning unit will not shut off

I need help I have my air conditioning off and the unit outside will not shut off. I tried flipping the breaker and resetting the thermostate. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated

is it just the outside unit that continues to run, or does the indoor blower run too? What breaker are you turning off, the furnace breaker or the condenser breaker. furnace breaker will be 120, condenser unit will be 240.
If only outside condenser unit is running, it sounds like you have a stuck contactor in outside unit.

the furnace breaker could/would be 240 if you have an electric furnace/airhandler,,,,you didn`t say what kinda furnace you have,,,more info needed

wmproop has a very valid point. Just to make sure you know, the breaker for the furnace is not the same as the breaker for the outside unit.
