I have water coming from the bottom of the duct work that is just past the ac unit itself in my attic. The pro says that I have a roof leak. WE CANNOT FIND WATER ANYWHERE FROM OUR ROOF. The top and sides of the ducts are dry...the bottom is where it is wet. The tape is wet and dripping onto my sheetrock. Please help

Most roofs only leak when it is raining. If you have a sunny day drip, likely the condensate drain is plugged. Open the unit up and see if the pan is full and running over into the duct. Best thing is to blow air through the drain followed up by some bleach to kill the yuck that caused the stoppage. If the drain necks down to half inch and has too many elbows, you may want to look at replacing it with 3/4'' ID all the way. You can always clamp 1'' ID tubing over 3/4'' PVC and make large, sweeping turns less likely plug.

r u talking about the drain pan...it is dry as a bone underneath the unit. Is there another drain you are talking about

Inside the unit is an A-coil, looks like 2 car radiators leaning against each other. They cool the air as it passes through them. Water condenses and drips down into a pan inside the unit. That water goes somewhere. If the drain backs up, it is supposed to go into the the pan you looked at. It sounds to me like it is going into the duct.

thanks for the information. The ac guy swears it cant be coming from the unit. He said thatthe unit would be sweating on the outside and there would be water in the other pan. Also says that the water would not be coming out of the drain outside. There is a little bit of water coming out of the drain pipe outside. We put a 2 qt bucket under there and it filled up by the evening. It has been 18 hrs since rain and I still see drips coming down.

Your A/C man is like your ceiling, all wet. Open the A/C up yourself, or replace him before you have to rpelacke the ceiling.

we alreasy had to respackle the ceiling once. a few weeks ago we had it leaking and thought that the drain was clogged. we sucked it out and thought it was fixed. now we are trying to prevent having to respackle again. Thanks so much
