I need to find insuance in a new state.

I am planning my first big move. My husband and I are moving to Washington, and I'm pregnant. I have IEHP now, but when we move I'm afraid I wont have the medical insurance I need.. Where do I look to get insurance as soon as possible after the move?

First of all you need to have your current insurance company give you a "Certificate of Insurance.". What a Certificate of Insuarance does is it says you have had insurance with them and it protects you from the preexisting clause.

If you or your husband has the insurance through a company than you can purchase cobra insurance and stay on the insurance for the next few months until you get diffrent insurance. It might be easier to stay on the cobra until after your child is born.

If you cannot buy Cobra than take the certificate of insurance with you to purchase new insurance from an insurance agent. or show it to the company if you are covered under company insurance at a new company.

First I am sorry what is IEHP, is that a state provided coverage ? or is it something though your work? If your current insurance is work provided you may keep it by paying the cobra insuranc on it. If it is already private insurance you may be able just to keep that coverage.

It will be hard if not impossible to get a new company to cover a pre-existing condition ( being pregnant) so trying to keep what you have would be of alot of benifit.
