I am also going for an assocciates degree in Health Information Technology. From what I understand to get RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician), CCS(Certified Coding Specialist), CCA (Certified Coding Associate), CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist-Physician based)you would have to first make sure your school is AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) accredited because if not you may not be able to take the tests. If you become a menmber of AHIMA while you are a student your membership will only be 35 a year vs. $200.00 a year for those already in the career field.
