Part Time vs Hourly Insurance benefit
I am the administrator for a small company (6 employees) that offers their health care plan to all employees except my question is, can I pay for the premium of the one employee who is an hourly employee with varying weekly hours (6 to 12 hours per week) but deduct the premium from the PT employee who is paid on a commission basis and works approximately 22 hours each week ? The other 4 employees are all FT salaried and health premiums are paid.

Can you discriminate like that? Yes. If it's what the owner wants.
I have never heard of a 6 to 12 hour a week employee getting any health coverage, much less full (unless it's a relative or sweetheart).

Thank you, I was concerned about the discrimination of the 2 employees who work low weekly hours, less than full time. Is the discrimination allowed because they are in different categories, 1 hourly and the other commission ?
