SATA Hard drive NOT detected

I am getting this NO SIGNAL message on my monitor when I switch it on.
I am suspecting the hard drive is not been detected due to connections between my monitor & or that there is a problem with the hard drive itself.

But yet I can't locate exactly what's wrong.
its a SATA 80gb hard drive.

any help would be great.

that message would indicate there is a problem with the monitor or the video card

Make sure monitor is plugged in properly
-Get hold of another known working monitor and hook up to see if same thing happens (if same thing with another know working monitor, it would indicate there is an issue with the video card)

Get hold of another known working video card and go through same process

Basically, just trying to narrow down where problem is, whether the monitor or the video card
