External Hardrive FireWire

Hello,

I am looking to buy an external hardrive for my MAC laptop, and I'm wondering what this means: "Has both USB and FireWire connections..." I know what a USB port is, but what is FireWire?

Thanks,

M. Yoscary.

Just like USB 1 and USB 2, there is FW 400 and FW 800. FW 800 is faster than USB 2.

You Daisy chain FW periferals and it's the preferred Video standard for camcorders etc.
