trying to dye my hair

As of right now my hair is black, but im wanting to add either crimson or hot pink tips to my hair. How would I get the correct color(meaning like not turning a weird color)

go to your local department store or beauty supply store and pick up a box of dye. Usually beauty supply stores or fashion stores have more of the pink color dye than other stores like Walmart, etc. On the back of the box it should tell the shade of how your color will turn out with whatever hair color you have. You can look at the pics on the back of the box and it will show you before, which is black and after with pink tips. Usually any pink dye will work on any hair color but you can see the pictures on the back of the box for confirmation! This is the only way to get the best results is to get a good brand which cost $10-15 for a box and read the color chart on the back. First you can test a small spot on your hair to make sure that you get the right shade desired, and after you get the right shade then continue with the rest of the tips on your hair. If you have never dyed your hair and since you are doing the tips I recommend going to get it done professionally for peace of mind. If you do decide to do it at home and the tips are uneven or you do not like the color than you can always dye your hair back black and keep it that way or start over again.

Using a box of at-home hair color will not make your hair pink or the color of the model's hair on the box. If your hair is black and want hot pink tips or streaks, you will need to lighten the strands with bleach and then apply your desired color. But if you don't want to bleach your hair, you can try using temporary or semi-permanent colors. There are several temporary and semi-permanent hair colors on the market, such as colored hair sprays, tinted mousses, Manic Panic or punk hair dyes that will give your hair a temporary tint "which washes out after a few shampoos". You will find these at a beauty supply store in the hair care aisle.

Bleach it first and then when it is like completely white die it. This may take a series of weeks.
