i have dyed my hair a million and one times. and i never got damaged hair from using Garneir or Herbal Essense Hair Dye. My aunt is a hair stylist and she even says that my hair is veery healthy and she doesnt know why because i dye my hair a lot. but yeah.. dont be afraid to try and do it by yourself. :] | Do you have thin or thick hair??? Cause I am a natural blonde that dyed my hair black and I have thin hair, and all the bleaching products say dont use on thin hair...and now Im afraid to use it... |

| The process depends on the length of your hair. If it's short (chin length or above) I wouldn't spend money to get it professionally stripped. I paid $300 for that service once, and discovered a $7 product at Wal-Mart that did the exact same thing. It's called simply "Haircolor Remover Kit." The photo on the box looks like it's from the 1960's, but trust me, it works. It's a very slow-acting bleach, so it's easy to monitor, and it has never damaged my fine-textured hair. For longer hair, though, I would leave it to the pros.
First, I suggest devoting a weekend to this process. Pick a weekend you do not plan to go out, unless you like to wear hats!
DAY 1: Use the Haircolor Remover Kit. Apply to ends first. Cover your head in plastic wrap to keep it moist, but don't bother with the blow dryer. (I tried it once, and it didn't make a worthwhile difference.) Your hair will end up orange at the ends, canary yellow near the roots, and will be very fluffy and strange-feeling.
Give your hair 24 hours to calm down.
DAY 2: Bleach. Use Clairol brand bleach from Sally's Beauty Supply, the kind in the blue packet. Blue will cancel out the orange tones. Use 10 Vol. developer.
Then you are ready to apply the blonde haircolor of your choice. Remember, when you are done, condition like crazy! Best of luck. |

| im thinking of having my hair done blonde my hair is dark brown nearly black at the moment i have been recommended to have my hair stripped which will leave my hair and orangey colour for a while and then after a few days or so i will be able to have blonde applied this all seems qwite simple my hingair is in qwite good condition and i am going to deep condition it everyday for a few days before i get my hair stripped so hopefully it does not cause too much damage to my hair do you think that this is a good idea? have you any suggestions on what i should do to get the blonde look that i want as it is something that i am determend to do without taking too long, as i dont want to wait for it to grow out that will take too long and dont want to be walking around with my roots half way down my head!! |

| I did this just today (AGAIN). Color strippers don't fully work on black dye; if there is any black dye left in your hair (even if you can't see it) no matter what color you try to dye to, it will turn black again.
You will have to use bleach.........I used Nice N Easy Born Blonde Maxi. I used both packets of the powder. FOLLOW THE PACKAGE DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY! Keep the solution about 1 inch away from your roots/scalp for the first 20 minutes. It will also help to put a plastic bag on your head after you put the lightener on; the heat helps it develop faster. After 20 minutes I pulled the mixture through to my roots, waited ten more minutes, and I was at the gold stage. I washed, dried, and put a box of dark ash blonde dye on it; and I love it.
Afterwards, do some deeeeeeeeep conditioning masque (I like "Last Call", by Beyond The Zone; you can find it at Sally's). Last Call also has a bomb diggity moisturizing shampoo now~
Hope this helped! |
