My roots won't colour!

Hello - I have been dying my hair for years now and in the past few months the dye just doesn't seem to take to my roots, well after a week of dying it looks like it needs to be done again!
My natural hair colour is Red & its been dyed brown, Do you know of any reason why my roots won't take? or why it looks like its growing out so quickly?

Thanks!
