Hair stripping

Can you help me? I had blonde hair but got sick of having the roots done. I put a brown dye on it but its virtually turned out black I want it brown then i want to add some highlights. Should i strip my hair of this colour then re-dye it or what? It makes me look really pastey this dark seen as it was blonde before.

The reason why your hair turned darker is because your hair was porous. Chemically lightened hair or color treated hair tends to grab deposit only colors, making it appear darker. The color will gradually fade and get a little lighter each time you shampoo your hair. If you don't to wait for the color to fade, you will need to use a hair lightening product to achieve results. It's tricky to go lighter, and if you attempt to do it yourself, it will make matters worse. So if you want brown hair with highlights, I recommend that you let a trained stylist do the coloring process.
