Hun, if you are trying to go from dark to blonde, then you will need to use hair bleach to get the result you want. It's better known as a double process. Anything other than that may result in a brassy or red/orange tones. It requires of a separate bleaching process and a color toner application to achieve the desired results.

If you want to go from dark to blonde, a double process is required. When hair is bleached it goes through different stages of lightening. It goes from dark black, to dark reddish brown, to medium reddish brown, to reddish brown, to light orange red, to gold orange, to gold, to light gold, to yellow, to pale yellow blond, to palest yellow blond. Since you want to go blonde, your hair has to bleached to a yellow stage, then a toner is used to give you your desired color. Double Process (bleaching and toning) should never be attempted at home. This process should be done by a professional hairstylist.
