    Hair color
I just had my hair professionally colored. My normal color is auburn. It was colored to a red about 6 weeks ago and now I just had it colored to dark auburn, but the problem is my hair looks black. The stylist said she did not want to add color to tone it down and just wash it with cheap shampoo that it will get lighter. I hear about a product Color Zap. Is this something I can do at home and not mess my hair up? I just want it lighter and to take the black look away.

Artificial hair color will fade over time. You can fade or lighten your hair color slightly and quicker by using a clarifying shampoo, dandruff shampoo or dish washing detergent. However, if you're not unsatisfied with the results, you should go back to the salon for a color correction. Explain the salon manger or owner that you asked for a dark auburn color but your hair came out way too dark, and he/she will have a stylist fix your hair for free. Most salons will fix their clients hair coloring mistakes free of charge because they don't want a negative reputation.
