I knew a girl in high school who went grey at age 17. It's actually not all that common. I have another friend who went grey in his 30s and he had all white hair by the time he was 40.
The problem is genetics. Hair stops producing pigment when the genetics of the hair says that it should. There's nothing you're going to do about it. This is, of course, not true if you have some sort of deficiency or treatable condition. There are conditions that will lead to grey hair and are reversible, but they are very rare. If you're pretty sure that you don't have such a medical condition, then your only other two option, other than coloring the hair, is to live with it.
