I dyed my hair too dark

Please help! I colored my hair too dark of a shade. The color is very uneven (the roots are light) and the rest is too black. I don't know what to do to lighten it. Thanks!

If the rest of your hair is dyed black, there is really nothing you can do that won't ruin your hair, to get rid of it.
If your willing to spend the time and the money - you can go to a beauty salon and have it bleached out - however I don't strongly reccomend this, only because it poses such a threat on your hair's health. Most times when your hair ends up black, you have to wait until it grows out enough to dye it again.

Karenszsmith, if you want to lift the color a few shades lighter, you don't have to bleach your hair. You can mix your selected color with a 30-volume peroxide developer to achieve results. They have separate developers or hair coloring products at a beauty supply store. You might want to condsider going to the salon to have it done. The hairstylist will use the same method to give you your desired color, minus the unwanted tones.

I used loreal colorzap then used a ms. clairol with a 20 developer and it looks alot better. I definitely need to stick with red tones from now on. Thanks for all your advice. have a great day!
