    Brassy hair?
OK I have a ? I was before I dyed my hair a dark blonde and went and bought a light blonde to dye my hair with... well when I dyed it the ends are light but the roots and top of my hair is real brassy in color... what would be the best way to correct it... should I put the other box of light blonde on it and try to see if it will fix it that way? I don't want to go to the salon to fix it simply because I can do anything they can here at home...

You can use a violet based toner to get rid of the brass. The best products are a deposit only hair color you can purchase at a beauty supply store such as Sally Beauty Supply. Deposit only hair color is the least damaging as it only deposits color and does not continue to strip your hair of its pigment. One line is Clairol Second Nature you would want to use a 10 developer with it. You will probably only need to process for about up to 10 minutes. If you use 20 or higher which comes in the OTC store box colors you will continue to lift your hair and result in brassiness.

This is a common mistake that women make when they try to lighten their hair at home. Dark hair contains a red or orange base, and if you apply a hair lightening product or peroxide on dark hair, it will result in a brassy shade. I can't tell you which color to use to neutralize the brassiness until I know what color the brassy tones are. Are the brassy tones red, orange or yellow?

Coloring your hair at home with a store bought hair product can be disastrous. Bleaching, coloring, and color correction should be done by a professional hairstylist.
