I am an American, married a French citizen March 2004. I have a few questions for any of you who have experienced/researched these topics. Also some of these sites may help some of you in similar situations.

We are visiting France very soon for less than 30 days. I have researched whether or not I need a visa for my visit (due to marriage to French national), but when I access the Consulate General of France in Miami (http://www.consulfrance-miami.org/english/visas.htm ), or the one in New York (http://www.consulfrance-newyork.org/...ationality.htm ), I get mixed messages. The New York site indicates that US citizens married to French nationals must get a visa, while the Miami site directs you to the France Diplomatie website (http://www.france.diplomatie.fr/veni...ex.asp?anglais ) to indicate your reason for visit, length of stay, etc. When I enter this information, it states that I do not need a visa for my visit. Should I trust this? Or do you think my visit requires a visa?

Second question: I have also found (on these websites) that I can apply for dual citizenship after three years of marriage (http://www.consulfrance-newyork.org/...ationality.htm ). This site indicates one of the required forms as the marriage certificate, issued within the past 6 months. Am I reading this incorrectly, or is this a contradiction - must be married at least 3 yrs, but marriage certificate must be within last 6 months? Are they referring to the French notification of our marriage?

Any other recommendations of websites for me to visit would be greatly appreciated concerning either of the aforementioned questions.

UScitizens visiting any European Union country (or Schengen agreement country) do not need visas when visiting for less than 90 days. Married or not, doesn't make a difference.
