Rock Island, Ill.

Hello ROLCAM

A 5 sec. google search provided the answer : See this Wikipedia link for information on Rock Island, Ill.

The original Rock Island, from which the city gets its name, is the largest island in the Mississippi River and is now known as Arsenal Island.

Islands are found in all types of waters, and the same goes for rocks. So why were you looking for a sea?

It's where I live. Part of it is considered to be an island because it is surrounded by water.

Thanks!

That was the reason why I asked.
It just caught my attention.
I was born on a small island called MALTA.
I now live on the largest island in the world called AUSTRALIA.
I am not mixing posts here.
But are you aware that ISLANDERS have
special traits ?

Huh? You simply first asked about Rock Island, IL and were not asking about people who are islanders. Simply living in Rock Island, IL we don't have the same traits that people do who live on islands elsewhere because it is a city and is not totally an island.

Thanks!

I used to live in Montreal which is an island. I don't believe people who live on island have any special traits unless you make a subset of tropical islands then I may see a pattern.

I was told by an authority on the subject that the special trait found in islanders is :-
AMBITION.

In my case I agree wholeheartedly.
The way it was explained to me is :-
a very large population with primarily limited
resources. I am referring to MALTA.
The competition was great in the olden days.
Only 10% of the population finished with a Secondary Education. This was post World War II.

Nah, ambition is a personal trait that a geography independant. Lots of inner city people have great ambition. The trait ambitious people most likely share is good parenting.

I think the English and the Japanese share some traits. A desire to conquer the world, great motorcycles, good science, rich and fascinating culture....

You may live in Australia, but - using your own description - the largest 'island' is not called Australia but Eurasia.
And the world's biggest true island is Greenland !
