Trying to find Birth Record of Father in France and Death Certificates of Grandparent

My father was born in Marseilles, France in 1911. He came to America in the
1930's. He received word his father, mother, sister and brother were killed
during a bombing in World War II. They lived in Alsace Lorraine. My father
tried for two years to find any information on their deaths, but in 1940, he
could not. My father died in America in 1984, we know nothing more of our father's history than what I have written above. I have tried the National Archives of France and Ancestry.com. It is just a run around. All dead ends. Duchene is the last name and it is common, yet they will say
"no matches". Is there a way to get a copy of his birth certificate, although
he is deceased. Is there a way to get a copy of the death certificates of
my Grandparents and aunt & uncle. We don't even know for sure if they
were all killed, or if we have any relatives in France. Thank you for what
ever help you could be.

I would imagine that similar to many towns & cities, there is more than one registration district in Marseilles. What you need is to know which district of Marseilles he was born. Probably the birthdate, and parents names will help narrow it down.

Try this place: http://www.genealogy.tm.fr/acte.htm

but ideally, you will need to go there with ID, and proof of kinship.

You will (more than likely) have to make an appointment.

I presume that France operates the same way as the UK??
