I've got access to it online - which can be searched by soundex (similar sounding names).
What's the name you're looking for? I'll look for it for you.

I find many Campagna families in Brooklyn, 1930, but no Teresa/Theresa/Tess born about 1928.
Step 2, a little more digging:
What is the head of household name from the 1920 census that you found?
Is Theresa the daughter in the same family?
Do you know Theresa's middle name?

Is this the family that you found in the 1920 Census?:
Brooklyn:
John J Campagno 35 (b. Italy)
Elizabeth Campagno 30 (b. Ireland)
Marie Campagno 4
James Campagno 3
John Campagno 1 6/12
Margaret Campagno 4/12
(all kids b. in NY)
I'm striking out for finding John, Elizabeth, Theresa or Bernadette in the 1930 Census. This is not unusual. Sometimes families were missed - and sometimes the names were butchered so bad by the enumerator that they are very difficult to find.
Is the above the family from the 1920 that you found? If not, what are the names, ages and birthplaces? I presumed you found them in Brooklyn in 1920, is that right too?

I don't find any of the above in the 1930 in any state - and under a variety of spellings and soundex searches... so it seems they were either missed, or the enumerator really messed up the name.
... so this is a case where you just "back burner" the 1930 census and continue searching other sources for info.

Yes, but it will not be available until 2010. They become available to the public 70 years after they're taken.

You guys/gals can think yourselves lucky, in the UK it is 100 years before the census info becomes public domain. Next one is 2011

If you are still interested in this family, I would like to know why. Theresa is my aunt. John and Elizabeth are my grandparents. Out of the 13+ children, only 8 of them survived to become adults.

Isn't life grand! I can't help but share my "best" cousin connection... because of my genealogy info posted on the net, a 6th cousin, who lives in the same town as our common 7th great grandfather, contacted me.
Isn't the power of the internet wonderful?
